Mary Hanlon is a New York–based director whose work reflects — and reimagines — the myths and ideologies shaping visual culture. She weaves together collage, analog textures, and archival material, not as proof, but as a bridge to alternative narratives and a space to question them. Her films navigate gender, intergenerational storytelling, and the technological mediation of intimacy and identity.
Mary studied at The New School (BA) and Hunter College (MFA) and was awarded a MacDowell Fellowship in 2014. She has contributed writing to The Brooklyn Rail, and her films have been presented in New York and internationally.
